Bought GTA 6 After Launch? Why the GTA+ Month Isn’t Included

GTA+ month with GTA 6: an Upgrade bought on its own adds none on PS5, and boxed codes sit outside the store terms.

No. The free month of GTA+ comes only with a digital copy of Grand Theft Auto VI, Standard or Ultimate Edition, bought on the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store by the end of November 19, 2026.

Buy the game on November 20 or later and the month isn’t included. Nothing inside GTA VI depends on it, because the membership’s benefits apply in GTA Online.

Store, format and date decide who gets GTA+

Three details on your receipt settle it: the store that sold the game, whether it was a digital edition, and the purchase date.

Check all three details before assuming your GTA VI purchase includes GTA+: where you bought it, whether it was digital, and when you bought it.

A second copy, or a refund and a new pre-orderNo second monthOne redemption per platform account, and none after a refund and re-order
PS Store in Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar or the Russian FederationNoPlayStation’s terms leave those country stores out

The Upgrade row matters if you own the Standard Edition and plan to add Ultimate content later. PlayStation’s terms state that the Ultimate Edition Upgrade is not eligible, so buying it separately on PS5 brings no GTA+ month with it.

Refunding and pre-ordering again doesn’t reset the limit, since it follows the platform account. Check the store rules for cancelling a GTA 6 pre-order for a refund before you try it.

According to Rockstar’s editions page, a boxed copy holds a download code. You redeem that code on a console store, yet the offer terms describe only digital editions bought there, and no Rockstar or store page extends the month to boxed codes. What else the box includes is covered in what the GTA 6 code in the box gets you.

PlayStation, Xbox and Rockstar wording on the cutoff

Vector timeline showing the GTA+ offer cutoff after 23:59:59 on November 19, 2026
Purchases made before the end of November 19, 2026 qualify; purchases made after that moment do not.

Xbox’s listing closes the offer at “23:59:59” on launch day. PlayStation’s version is “on or before” the same date, and Rockstar Support’s is “prior to November 20.”

All three wordings end the window on GTA VI’s release day itself. A digital purchase made during launch day qualifies, and one made the following morning doesn’t.

No store page names a time zone for that clock; the question is tracked alongside the launch-day pre-order bonus cutoff.

The month lives in that dated offer text, outside the editions themselves. Rockstar’s editions page describes the Standard Edition as the game alone, and the Xbox Standard listing shows a bundle of GTA VI and the Vintage Vice City Pack with no GTA+ item.

GTA+ does nothing inside GTA VI

Sony’s US store listing for the Ultimate Edition calls GTA VI “a single-player experience.”

GTA+ belongs to GTA Online. Its PS Store page makes access to Grand Theft Auto Online on PS5 a requirement for the GTA Online benefits, and adds a Games Library of classic Rockstar titles. Rockstar hasn’t announced an online mode for GTA VI or any GTA+ benefit inside it.

A late buyer misses one month of GTA Online perks and library access. The Vintage Vice City Pack, which does appear in GTA VI, runs on its own cutoff rules.

Missed the free month and still want GTA+?

On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the membership is sold in three places (Rockstar Support):

  • PlayStation Store
  • Microsoft Store
  • inside GTA Online on either console

The PS Store US listing for GTA+ prices it at $7.99 a month. Read the Xbox price on the Microsoft Store before subscribing.

Note: GTA+ renews every month at the regular price until you cancel it, and you can cancel at any time (Rockstar Support). The PS5 and Xbox steps are in how to cancel GTA+ before it renews.

No GTA+ email or pop-up after a qualifying purchase

A confirmation email explaining how to redeem is what PlayStation’s offer terms promise after a qualifying purchase, and the claim itself happens on the GTA+ product page. On Xbox, a console pop-up signals that the month is ready, and the offer waits under Offers & credits in the Store (Xbox Store listing).

Only the PlayStation account that bought GTA VI can claim it there. Each store also sets its own claim deadline, listed with the GTA+ cancellation steps for PS5 and Xbox.

Xbox child accounts that block age-restricted content can’t redeem the month at all. GTA 6’s age rating and the PS5 and Xbox family controls covers where those restrictions are set.

When a qualifying purchase shows nothing on the account that made it, the store’s support team handles it. Contact PlayStation Support or Xbox Support with the order number.

Check your receipt date before you subscribe

A digital edition from the PS Store or Microsoft Store, dated on or before launch day, means the month is yours to claim on that account before you pay for anything. A later date, a boxed code, another seller or the Upgrade on its own means no free month, and nothing in GTA VI requires one.
