Who we are

The Checkpoint Codex (thecheckpointcodex.com) is a video game news and guides website published by KCS Global Group, based in Chhattisgarh, India. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean The Checkpoint Codex and KCS Global Group. Learn more on our About Us page.

This policy applies to thecheckpointcodex.com only. Using the site also means you agree to our Terms of Use.

Information we collect

Information you give us

We do not have contact forms, user accounts, comments or a newsletter. The only way you give us personal information is by emailing us. When you do, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and anything you write in your message or attach to it.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, some information is collected automatically by our hosting provider and by the third-party services described below. This can include:

  • Your IP address and approximate location (such as country or city)
  • Browser type, device type and operating system
  • Pages you visit, how long you stay and the page that referred you
  • Cookie identifiers and similar online identifiers

We do not collect sensitive information such as payment details, government ID numbers or precise GPS location.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We and our partners use them to:

  • Keep the site working properly and securely
  • Understand how visitors use the site, through analytics
  • Show advertising and measure how ads perform

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, although some ads may be less relevant to you. Your browser’s help pages explain how to manage cookies.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site. Advertising helps us keep our content free to read.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website and other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings.
  • You can also opt out of personalized advertising from many third-party vendors at aboutads.info and networkadvertising.org.

To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Opting out of personalized ads does not remove ads. You will still see ads, but they will be less tailored to you.

Advertisers have no influence over our articles. See our Editorial Policy for how we keep coverage independent.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which articles are useful and how visitors find us. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as pages visited and time on site. We look at this information in aggregate and do not use it to identify you personally.

You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

How we use information

  • To reply to your emails and handle your requests
  • To review and fix errors you report, as described in our Corrections Policy
  • To understand how the site is used and improve our content
  • To show advertising that helps fund the site
  • To protect the site against spam, fraud and security threats
  • To meet legal obligations

We will not add you to a mailing list or send you marketing emails.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers that run the site for us, such as our hosting and email providers.
  • Advertising and analytics partners, including Google, which collect information through cookies as described above.
  • Legal reasons, when required by law or to protect our rights, our readers or the public.
  • Business changes, if the site is sold or transferred to another owner.

Under some US state laws, allowing advertising partners to collect information through cookies for personalized ads can count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information, even though no money changes hands for your data. You can opt out of this as explained in the next section.

Your US state privacy rights

If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected about you
  • Get a copy of that information
  • Ask us to correct or delete it
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising
  • Not be treated differently for using any of these rights

How to make a request: email contact@thecheckpointcodex.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line and tell us what you are asking for. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on it. We respond within the time required by law, which is usually 45 days.

Opting out of targeted ads: use Google’s Ads Settings or the industry opt-out tools listed in section 4, or email us.

An authorized agent may make a request on your behalf if they provide proof that you gave them permission.

Visitors outside the US

Our content is written for readers in the United States, but the site can be visited from anywhere. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before non-essential cookies are used for advertising, and you can change your choice at any time. You also have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your personal information, which you can exercise by emailing us.

Information may be processed in countries other than your own, including India and the United States, where our team and service providers operate.

Children’s privacy

Many games we cover are rated for teens or adults by the ESRB. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them, in line with the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information, email contact@thecheckpointcodex.com and we will delete it.

Data retention and security

We keep emails only as long as we need them to handle your message, keep a record of corrections and requests, or meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time. Cookies set by our partners are kept according to their own policies.

We use reasonable safeguards, including secure HTTPS connections and restricted access to our email accounts. No website or email system is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive personal information by email.

Links to other websites

Our articles link to official publisher pages, platform stores and other sources so you can check our research. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information. See our Disclaimer for more.

We may update this policy when our practices or the law change. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we make a significant change, we will note it on this page.
